23 Feb Weatherproof Cat Tree
If you have some outdoor space and want to erect a cat tree or a cat scratching post that will stand the test of time a matter what the good old-fashioned British weather can throw at it, then you need to ensure it is weatherproof..
There are several things to consider when looking for a Weatherproof Cat Tree, the first thing to bear in mind is that natural sisal rope is not recommended for outdoor use.
This fact alone what make your options usually limited as this is a material that is first choice for many cats trees that are made today.
The reason for this, is that sisal when it gets wet may fray and discolour.
It is much more advisable when choosing a weatherproof cat tree to use hempex instead, as this material is much more strong and able to deal with outdoor weather conditions much better.
We always recommend choosing a treated wooden structure, as this will be the strongest and able to withstand the elements much greater.
You can of course, use a product like Ronseal which is commonly used on garden fencing to maintain the wood and add an additional layer of protection to it.
Here is a selection of our favourite weatherproof cat trees, which of all been built specifically to last for many years it unpredictable environment!
